Engine
Assembly Department
This is the heart of our operation. One
person assembles each engine from start to
finish. We do not use an assembly line
because we feel the quality would go down.
After a final cleaning, new oil galley
plugs, freeze plugs, cam bearings and a
reground camshaft are installed in the
block. The crankshaft and new main bearings
are then put in followed by the connecting
rods, fitted with the new piston rings and
rod bearings. The bearing clearance and ring
gap are also checked at this time. A new
timing set is installed and the engine is
now what we call a shortblock. If the engine
is to be built into a longblock, new lifters
and head gaskets are installed, and the
engine has reconditioned cylinder heads
torqued to it. The last step
is to install push rods, and rocker arms,
and to adjust the valves before sending it
to the testing department. A new oil pump
and the remainder of the gaskets are also
supplied with each longblock. |
